Free trailer checklist
Trailer inspection checklist
Check the trailer after coupling and before you move: coupling and lines, lights, tyres and brakes, then the body, doors and curtains. Keep a record for each trailer.
How it works

Works on your phone on site, or at your desk.
Step 1: Pick a template
Start from a ready-made checklist or a blank one, then edit any item or section.
Step 2: Tick as you go
Mark each item done, or pass, fail or N/A, and add a note where something needs action.
Step 3: Download and share
Download a dated PDF report, Excel or image, or print it. Your draft stays in your browser.

01Do I need to check the trailer every time?
Yes. Check each trailer when you couple to it, even if another driver used it earlier, and include it in your daily walkaround.
02What is a tug test?
After coupling, gently pull forward with the trailer brakes on to make sure the kingpin is locked in the fifth wheel. Always confirm the jaw is closed visually too.
03Can I use it for small towed trailers?
Yes. Remove the HGV-only items (fifth wheel, suzies) and add your own; the list is saved in your browser.
04Is it free?
Yes. Fill it in online and download it as a PDF, Excel or PNG, 3 reports a day, with no sign-up, and you can add your logo. Pro adds photos, your signature, premium designs and unlimited reports.
